Mason Tomlin School Sewell School News & Announcements IMPORTANT INFORMATION The has activated our remote learning plan to help slow and stop the spread of COVID-19 beginning on Monday, March 16, 2020. The district will be closed to students and staff for a minimum of two weeks from Monday, March 16, 2020 to Friday, March 27, 2020. Students will engage in remote learning so that we may continue with instruction. A deep cleaning of all buildings will take place during this time. To facilitate the activation of remote learning, materials will be available for pick-up during the following times and locations on Monday, March 16th: Materials for students of Centre City and JMT Schools have been prepared and are available for pick up at JMT School on Monday between the hours of 7am and 8pm. All materials for students in grades 1-6 will be picked up at JMT School. Please note the pick-up location for BOTH Centre City and JMT Schools will be at JMT, and has been extended from the original schedule for the purpose of crowd control. To maintain distancing between those picking up, the following time slots are recommended for pick up: Students with last names A-F Pick Up Time: 7am- 10am Students with last names G-M Pick Up Time: 10am- 1pm Students with last names N-S Pick Up Time: 1pm- 4pm Students with last names T-Z Pick Up Time: 4pm- 8pm The pick up times above are only a guide that is geared toward reducing the number of people in one location at the same time. For your convenience, you can make plans to have your child’s materials picked up by friends or neighbors. Materials for Sewell School students may be picked up at Sewell School on Monday, March 16th between the hours of 7am and 7pm. Parents of all students may pick up during this window of time. It is requested that those picking up materials park their vehicle at the front of the school on McAnally Drive and enter through the main office. We know that families count on us for routine and other critical support. To ease the disruption of a school building closure, families of students that receive a free/reduced price lunch are directed to contact Mrs. Stephanie Logan by email at slogan@mantuaschools.com. The district will be coordinating with local agencies to provide food to those in need. Contemplating weeks without a regular school routine can be overwhelming. Please know that we are doing our very best to make decisions that are in the best interest of our entire school community. By working together, we can all help our community stay healthy and safe. I have strong confidence in our instructional staff, and we will be working hard to facilitate learning during this unprecedented time. School administrators will be available for assistance during regular school hours via email, and teachers will be accessible to support learning and answer questions. One of the best ways to help your family is to stay informed and to practice social distancing by avoiding unnecessary gatherings and being proactive with hand washing and good hygiene. We are extremely proud of our school district and are pleased that you have chosen to visit our site to learn more. -- After implementing a comprehensive approach to social/emotional character development, the was awarded the distinguishing honor of National District of Character in 2018, as one of only five districts nationwide. During the 2019 school year, the district was awarded $1.8 million in Pre-K expansion aid from Governor Murphy's administration so that all students who turn four years old prior to October 1st have access to a full day, high quality educational program at no cost. We have also been able to engage in a series of significant community partnerships, among them Rowan University which has designated Sewell School as a Professional Development School for the 2019-20 school year. I see many exciting things ahead for our school community. In January of 2020 community members will have the opportunity to vote on a referendum that can move our school buildings from good to great.
